Reverend Guitars Unveils the Greg Koch Gristlemaster and Rick Vito Signature Soulshaker
Both models will debut at the 2019 NAMM show.
Toledo, OH (December 10, 2018) -- The rumors have been swirling for months, ever since Greg Koch flew to Toledo, OH to shoot āThe Ken and Greg Showā at Reverend Guitars. Now the rumors are a reality. The Reverend Greg Koch Signature Gristlemaster will debut at The NAMM Show 2019.
The guitar has a T-style body that is slightly larger than a classic T. A raised center ridge increases the sustain. A chamber under the pickguard increases the resonance. Reverend Guitars equips the model with the Fishman Greg Koch Signature Gristle-Tone pickup set ā hum-free, rechargeable active pickups with two distinct voicings from Fishmanās Fluence series. The Gristlemaster also features a roasted maple compound radius neck and a Wilkinson Classic 3-Saddle bridge with staggered brass saddles and steel baseplate. It comes in Chronic Blue, Powder Yellow, or Party Red, all with a single-ply parchment pickup.
Greg Koch is the remarkable guitarist who is well-known for his perpetually popular online videos, his books and instructional videos through Hal Leonard, and his power blues band, the Koch-Marshall Trio. Greg met Ken Haas, Reverend Guitars CEO while shooting demo videos with Wildwood Guitars. The pair hit it off, and viewers began demanding more from the duo. They have an online show called āThe Ken and Greg Showā demoing a variety of Reverend Guitars They plan to embark on a clinic tour and shoot the second season of the show in 2019.
Reverend Guitars took their Charger body style and loaded it with their Talnico pickups for traditional, early 50s twang thatās never harsh. The neck pickup is reverse-wound/reverse-polarity for hum canceling when used in conjunction with the bridge pickup. Packed into the Korina body for lots of resonance and rich harmonics providing a highly-prized midrange bump. The Reverend Bass Contour can tighten up the low end even more and re-voice the pickups for lots of versatility. String-thru body with stainless steel saddles add extra sustain and bite.
Reverend Guitars Designer Joe Naylor says, āThe Trickshot can go from a thicker, 50s traditional tone to a thinner 60s retro tone right at the playerās fingertips.ā On all Reverend Guitars, there is a Boneite nut and locking tuners, Reverendās Bass Contour Control, and a dual-action truss rod ā all for maximum performance. You canāt be different if youāre playing what everyone else is.
The Reverend Rick Vito Signature Soulshaker is Reverend Guitarsā third signature model with the influential artist. This guitar is a single cut set-neck with a pair of humbuckers that are emblazoned with Vitoās deco triangles. It comes in either Ivory Pearloid or Grey Pearloid ā both with custom-made black-and-white checkerboard binding. Designed to be well-balanced for slide players like Vito, the neck has a single-action truss rod for lighter weight. The back of the neck is finished in satin so it feels smooth and comfortable. Equipped with a Bigsby and an Ebony fretboard, the guitar is tailored to Vitoās particular brand of slide blues that astonishes audiences around the world.
Rick Vito got his start with Delaney and Bonnie when he was in his early twenties. He has played with many notable artists, such as John Mayall, Jackson Browne, Bob Seger, and Fleetwood Mac. Most recently, Vito and Mick Fleetwood formed the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band in Hawaii while Vito also maintains his worldwide solo career out of Nashville.
On all Reverend Guitars, there is a Boneite nut, locking tuners, and a dual-action truss rod ā all for maximum performance. You canāt be different if youāre playing what everyone else is.

PRS Guitars celebrates 40 years with the limited edition McCarty SC56. Featuring vintage-inspired design and modern innovations, this single-cutaway guitar pays tribute to Ted McCarty and his impact on the industry. With only 400 pieces available, this instrument is a must-have for collectors and performers alike.
PRS Guitars today announced the 40th Anniversary McCarty SC56 Limited Edition. With a classic PRS single-cutaway body shape and carefully chosen specifications, the McCarty SC56 is both a tribute to tradition and a reliable tool for the modern performer. Only 400 pieces will be made.
āThe SC56, signifying Singlecut and 1956, model is our most recent tribute to my late mentor Ted McCarty and his impact on the guitar industry. We started with our take on a classic late ā50s singlecut body. 1956 marks the year that Ted first had guitars made with his newly coined 'humbucker' pickups. It also happens to be the year I was born. Bringing vintage design into the modern era, we loaded this model with our McCarty III pickups, meticulously designed to deliver warm, clear, vintage tone with exceptional note separation and dynamics,ā said PRS Guitars Founder & Managing General Partner, Paul Reed Smith.
Anchored by a maple top and mahogany back, the 24.594ā scale length and 22-fret Pattern Vintage neck work with Phase III non-locking tuners and PRS two-piece bridge to promote its musical sustain. The PRS McCarty III pickups are controlled by a simple layout ā two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way toggle on the upper bout.
Single-cutaway guitars are known to be heavier than their double-cutaway counterparts. The McCarty SC56 Limited Edition design incorporates weight-relief, decreasing the weight of the guitar by about 2/3 of a pound, while maintaining several points of attachment between the guitar top and back to eliminate the āhollowā sound of the cavities and promote tone transfer.
With appointments like binding on the fretboard, classic bird inlays, and a vintage-inspired nitrocellulose finish, the 40th Anniversary McCarty SC56 Limited Edition blends heritage and innovation into a timeless instrument.
PRS Guitars continues its schedule of launching new products each month in 2025.
