Rocktron Introduces The VooDu Valve LTD

A limited-edition version of one of the company's most popular preamps.

Battle Creek, MI (May 8, 2019) -- Rocktron reaches back to release the VooDu Valve LTD, a special limited edition of one of their most famous guitar preamps.

Sporting an eye-catching red faceplate, the VooDu Valve LTD provides one last chance to grab one of the bestselling preamps in history. This digital/tube preamp has been utilized by some of the world’s best players both live and in the studio.

Successfully combining a digital world with tube warmth is something Rocktron takes great pride in and the VooDu unites Rocktron’s world-renowned DSP effects with the warmth of tube technology.

This preamp combines warmth and clarity and is unique in the way that you can choose either High or Low tube gain selections dependent on how much tube break-up you want for any application. For ultra-clean tone with a sharp edge and minimal distortion, select "low" tube gain pre-sets. For a tinge of dirt, dial up "high" tube gain selections and run minimal digital distortion to get natural medium-saturated tones reminiscent of a maxed-out half stack. And for the "gain-heads", run "high" tube gain with digital clipping.

The Preamp section controls include Variac, Pentode, Triode and Solid State voicings. The Voodu’s post EQ section and comprehensive pre EQ section, insures you never run out of tone shaping ideas.

The VooDu Valve LTD is loaded with plenty of Rocktron’s famous effects found in other Rocktron award winning products. From favorite vintage analog stomp boxes Rocktron includes two-tap chorusing, dual-mode phaser, two-tap flanger, compression, frequency programmable wah-wah, tremolo, reverb, echo-like delay featuring unique tap tempo mode, pitch shift, and HUSH noise reduction placed perfectly, after the preamp and before the effects.

The VooDu Valve LTD is both stage and studio ready with balanced XLR outputs (with level control) and 1/4” outs.

The Speaker Simulator in the VooDu provides parameters for speaker size, mic placement and reactance parameter.

Headphone output and tap tempo delay are included as well. Select Speaker Type (15", 12", to", 8" and Full Range), adjust Mic and Placement.

A one-time only event, combined with a significantly limited number of production units insures that this special edition of the VooDu Valve LTD is sure to be a collector’s item.

Gain is fun in all its forms, from overdrive to fuzz, but let’s talk about a great clean tone.

We’re all here for one thing. It’s the singular sound and magic of the stringed instrument called the guitar—and its various offshoots, including the bass. Okay, so maybe it’s more than one thing, but the sentiment remains. Even as I write this, my thoughts fan out and recognize how many incarnations of “guitar” there must be. It’s almost incomprehensible. Gut-string, nylon-string, steel-string, 12-string, 8-string, 10-string, flatwound, brown sound, fuzztone…. It’s almost impossible to catalog completely, so I’ll stop here and let you add your favorites. Still, there’s one thing that I keep coming back to: clean tone.

A supreme shredder’s signature 6-string dazzles with versatility.

This immaculately built guitar sounds great and can do it all.

The more affordable price is still out of reach for many guitarists

Charvel MJ San Dimas SD24 CM

Charvel’s first Guthrie Govan signature model was released in 2014, after an arduous two-year effort to get the design just right. Since then, the guitar—now in its second edition—has become one of Charvel’s most coveted models. Unfortunately, its $3,699 price keeps the U.S.-made axe out of reach for many.

This year, though, the company released the Made-in-Japan signature MJ San Dimas SD24 CM, which sells for a slightly more manageable $2,799. Needless to say, that’s not cheap. But depending on your priorities, it’s a fair price for a very high quality, pro-level instrument.
