Carvin Releases Neil Zaza Signature Model

The NZ624 takes all the features of our popular CT624 California Carved Top guitar and adds many upgraded options.

San Diego, CA (May 27, 2014) -- Carvin's Custom Shop is excited to team up with renown melodic virtuoso guitarist Neil Zaza to offer the Neil Zaza Signature Carved Top NZ624. The NZ624 takes all the features of our popular CT624 California Carved Top guitar, and adds many upgraded options as standard features, including Neil's preferred single-volume control layout. The NZ624 represents over 65 years of experience building high-quality, USA-made guitars. The NZ624 is loaded with features usually only found on guitars twice it's price, but because we sell direct to you, you can own a custom-made, hand-built guitar without the custom-made, hand-built price. With hundreds of Custom Shop options, you can order your new NZ624 exactly the way you want it, and be the proud owner of a totally unique instrument that will last a lifetime. Your NZ624 will be just like the ones Neil plays on stage and in the studio, unlike many manufacturers who make cheaper versions of signature instruments that differ from the ones the artist plays.

Carvin uses hand selected genuine mahogany for the body, which adds warmth and accentuates the low and mid-range tone of the instrument. Mahogany is considered to be a classic tone wood, and is denser and heavier than alder, but lighter than maple. The NZ624 comes standard with a beautifully sculpted top of the finest bookmatched AAAA curly flamed maple with Carvin's natural body binding and matching 2 X 4 headstock. Bookmatched AAAA quilted maple, flamed koa, spalted flamed maple and other exotic top woods are also offered. Carvin's exclusive deep-triple step finishing process creates an almost 3-dimensional depth to the figure of the flamed or quilted top. Only the maple top is finished; the back of the guitar is finished in jet black gloss. The matching headstock is adorned with an abalone Carvin logo, for just the right touch of class, and a Neil Zaza signature truss rod cover completes the package. The NZ624 has a tung-oiled unpainted 5-piece maple and walnut neck with Neil's preferred thinner profile, and it features Carvin's "Rapid Play" low action design that assures effortless playability throughout the entire fingerboard. The sleek neck heel and lower body cutout allows uninhibited access at the 24th fret. The 25" scale, 14" radius fingerboard is highly figured flamed maple with genuine abalone diamond inlays, and frets are medium-jumbo stainless steel, with other fretwire sizes optional.

Carvin's "M" bridge is standard, with fully-adjustable tune-o-matic bridge and strings fed through the body for additional sustain. The bridge studs are set deep into the body, which further accentuates the tone of the guitar. Premium Carvin locking tuners with a 19:1 ratio ensure your NZ624 will stay in tune, regardless of your playing style. Hardware is chrome, with black or gold hardware optional.

Electronics consist of a single volume control with a 3-way pickup selector, which is Neil's preference for simplicity on stage. The volume knob matches your hardware finish, and has an abalone inlay. Carvin's standard classic C22 humbuckers are custom wound with vintage plain enamel wire which helps bring out the harmonically rich tone and sustain of this fine instrument. For added warmth, try Carvin's S22 Series metal covered pickups. You can also choose from Carvin's M22 Series or Holdsworth H22 Series pickups. Standard pickups have black coils and bezels, and you can also choose cream or white coils and cream bezels in assorted combinations.

The only way to appreciate the performance of a Carvin product is to use it in your own environment, giving it the test of "real world" performance.
