EVH Introduces the 5150III 6L6 50W Head and Combos, Adds New Wolfgang Special, Wolfgang Standard and Striped Series Guitars

Scottsdale, AZ (January 25, 2018) -- EVH is proud to introduce a number of new items for 2018 including the refreshed 5150III 50W 6L6 Head, 5150III 50W 6L6 112 and 5150III 50W 616 212 Combo amps, the Wolfgang Special Striped Black and White, a pair of left-handed axes in the Wolfgang Special LH and EVH Striped Series LH R/B/W, plus additional color options.

With its smaller size and portability, the new EVH 5150III 50W 6L6 Head is the perfect amp for players who want arena volume and performance in a compact package. Three channels of road-tested sound work for any playing style— crisp cleans, raw crunch or searing leads, while newly added independent dual-concentric controls allow for gain and volume level matching.

This 2.0 version of the popular EVH 50-watt head delivers a full-spectrum of tone — channel one powers crystal-clear clean tone, channel two ranges from chunky overdrive to tight distortion, and channel three oozes with liquid gain. Channels one and two each have dual concentric gain/volume controls, with shared EQ (low, mid, high). Channel three has its own gain, volume and EQ (low, mid, high) controls. All three channels also have global presence and global resonance controls.

This amp head also includes selectable impedance (4, 8 or 16 ohms), dual parallel speaker output jacks, effects loop, headphone jack, line out and a four-button footswitch with 1/4” input jack and MIDI input.

Loaded with pure EVH sound and power, the EVH 5150III 50W 6L6 Head is wrapped in Black or Ivory textured vinyl and features the instantly recognizable black EVH-striped steel grille. A high-quality fitted cover is available as an EVH Accessory.

Brimming with brawny tone, the 5150III 50W 6L6 112 Combo offers arena-sized sound in a Celestion powered compact package for more convenient transport.

Similar to the 5150III 50W 6L6 head, this tube combo amp has been redesigned with versatile, all-new independent dual-concentric controls that allow for gain and volume level matching.

Delivering a full-spectrum of tone, channel one features pristine cleans, channel two kicks in with overdrive and heavy gain similar to the EVH 5150III 100S, while channel three oozes with liquid distortion. Channels one and two each have dual concentric gain/volume controls, with shared EQ (low, mid, high). Channel three has its own gain, volume and EQ (low, mid, high) controls. All three channels also have global presence, resonance and reverb controls.

This combo comes loaded with a 12” custom special designed EVH Celestion speaker, seven JJ ECC83 (12AX7) preamp tubes, two JJ 6L6 power tubes and front-panel adjustable power output from 50 watts down to one watt.

Other features include a single input, rear-panel selectable output impedance (4, 8 or 16 ohms) with a pair of parallel speaker outputs, rear-panel MIDI input and preamp output, rear-panel effects loop and headphone jack (mutes power amp), and a four-button footswitch that controls all three channels and reverb for easy onstage switching.

The cabinet is constructed out of birch with special internal baffling for tight and increased bass response. Wrapped in stylish Black or Ivory vinyl, the EVH 5150III 50W 6L6 112 Combo is finished off with vintage-style chicken-knobs, red LED jewel indicator, molded black plastic top handle and pop-out casters. The 5150III 50W 6L6 212 shares all of the fine characteristics and features of the 112 combo, but comes with dual 12” custom special designed EVH Celestion speakers for an extra added punch.

Loaded with player-oriented features and iconic striped style, the Wolfgang Special Striped B/W is a highly-responsive instrument, born to crank out some serious rock. This new axe features a basswood body with arched top, graphite-reinforced bolt-on quartersawn maple neck, 12”-16” compound radius maple fingerboard with rolled edges and black dot inlays, heel-mounted truss rod adjustment spoke wheel, dual direct mounted, custom designed EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbucking pickups, EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo system, EVH D-Tuna, EVH low-friction volume knob and high-friction tone control. Spotlight ready in White with Eddie’s signature Black stripes, this huge-sounding axe comes with chrome hardware, a three-position toggle switch, black speed knobs and EVH-branded tuners.

EVH has also added three new finishes for the EVH Wolfgang Special – Candy Apple Red Metallic, Ivory, and Satin Orange Crush with matching headstocks. The Candy Apple Red Metallic and Ivory models feature 1-ply cream body binding and chrome hardware, while the Satin Orange Crush model features 1-ply black body binding and black hardware. These guitars feature a basswood body with an arched top, robust graphite-reinforced bolt-on quartersawn maple neck with rolled edges and a hand-rubbed urethane back finish, 12”-16” compound radius ebony fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and pearloid dot inlays, truss rod adjustment spoke wheel at the base of the neck, a pair of flagship custom designed EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbucking pickups and an EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking trem system.

Sharing the same fine features, the new EVH Wolfgang Special LH is available in a Stealth finish with single-ply cream body binding, black hardware and an ebony fingerboard.

Another model for the southpaws making its debut in 2018 is the EVH Striped Series LH R/B/W guitar, which features a basswood Stratocaster-style body decked out in Eddie’s famed red with black and white striped graphics, bolt-on quartersawn maple neck with scarf joint and graphite reinforcement, 12”-16” compound radius maple fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and black dot inlays, convenient heel-mounted truss rod adjustment spoke wheel, single direct mounted EVH Wolfgang humbucking pick up, EVH-branded Floyd Rose bridge, EVH D-Tuna, single black volume control knob, EVH die-cast tuners, and vintage style strap buttons.

Finally, EVH adds new finish options to its Wolfgang Standard lineup.

Offering many of the blazing features as its more expensive brethren, the EVH Wolfgang Standard is available in a Matte Blue Frost finish with a black headstock and black hardware, and features a basswood body with special “comfort cut” forearm contour and a graphite-reinforced bolt-on one-piece maple neck, carved and rolled to Eddie Van Halen’s specifications with an oiled back finish. This model also has a 12”-16” compound radius maple fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and black dot inlays, truss rod adjust spoke wheel, dual direct mounted EVH Wolfgang humbucking pickups, EVH-branded Floyd Rose Special bridge and R2 locking nut, single volume and tone controls, and three-way toggle switch.

Also available is the EVH Wolfgang Standard QM, featuring a beautiful quilt maple top in either Cherry Sunburst or Zilla Burst finishes with a black headstock and black chrome hardware.
