Godin Guitars Releases the Metropolis Composer QIT

A classic dread with all-mahogany construction.

Montreal, QC (February 8, 2021) -- Godin Guitars is proud to announce the launch of the Metropolis Composer QIT acoustic guitar as part of its successful Godin Acoustic Series. This stunning and great-sounding acoustic is an absolute joy to play!

The Metropolis Composer comes in a classic dreadnought size, perfect for that big and full sound. The body is made up of an all-mahogany construction with a smooth semi-gloss finish. The top and back are Solid Mahogany with Layered Mahogany sides.

It also has a Mahogany neck, so you can be sure to get rich and rounded tones with this guitar. In addition, it is well balanced with the inclusion of a Richlite fretboard, an ebony bridge, and a 25.5ā€™ā€™ long scale for added brightness and harmonic richness in the overall tone.

The nut width is 1.72" for easy and seamless chords, and itā€™s Graph Tech TUSQ, along with the bridge saddle. The Metropolis Composer comes equipped with the Godin QIT system with integrated tuner for convenient plug-and-play performance.

Godinā€™s long-standing reputation of quality and vision is put on display with this new modelā€”built entirely in Canada.

With the E Street Band, heā€™s served as musical consigliere to Bruce Springsteen for most of his musical life. And although he stands next to the Boss onstage, guitar in hand, heā€™s remained mostly quiet about his work as a playerā€”until now.

Iā€™m stuck in Stevie Van Zandtā€™s elevator, and the New York City Fire Department has been summoned. Itā€™s early March, and I am trapped on the top floor of a six-story office building in Greenwich Village. On the other side of this intransigent door is Van Zandtā€™s recording studio, his guitars, amps, and other instruments, his Wicked Cool Records offices, and his man cave. The latter is filled with so much day-glo baby boomer memorabilia that itā€™s like being dropped into a Milton Glaser-themed fantasy landā€”a bright, candy-colored chandelier swings into the room from the skylight.

Some musical momentsā€”whether riffs, melodies, or solosā€”bypass our ears and tug at our heartstrings.

It had to be in the early part of 1990, and I donā€™t know how or why, but I purchased Steady On, the debut album from singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin. Upon my first listen I knew it was something very special. By the time the third track, ā€œShotgun Down the Avalanche,ā€ came pouring from my ancient Dahlquist DQ10s, I was a fan. The song features an instrumental breakā€”not a guitar solo per se, but more like a stringed-instrument vignette that cascaded seamlessly through a number of sounds created by guitarist-songwriter-producer John Leventhal. Iā€™ve listened to it dozens of times since, and I still marvel at the emotion it stirs in me.
