Foxgear Presents the Ballade Chorus

Foxgear Presents the Ballade Chorus

A collaboration with David Bowie bassist Tim Lefebvre goes back to the '80s to create the ideal swoosh box.

ForlƬ, Italy (July 29, 2019) -- One of the most important and distinctive guitar effects of the 80ā€™s must be the chorus; able to transform a clean sound into such a wonderfully lush and ethereal tone that it has become a milestone in music history. In the 80s though, the analog pedals that produced that iconic sound, provided the musician a constant battle with tone loss and loads of unwanted noise.

When the Foxgear engineers began the development of the new Foxgear Ballade Chorus, they wanted to revive the typical sounds of the great units, like the Boss CE-1 and CE-2, but with specif-ic requirements; keep the circuit totally analog, design the unit to be super quiet with no signal loss at any frequency and with a better response on the low frequency range (making it great also for bass). They accomplished all of their goals. So much so that now the Foxgear Ballade finds home in pedal boards of such esteemed musicians as renowned bassist, Tim Lefebvre (D. Bowie, Toto, Tedeschi-Trucks Band and many others).

As with all Foxgear pedals, the Ballade has Standard Audio-Grade components in the signal path, (no SMD) and comes equipped with our own, anti-pop relay assisted true-bypass circuitry.

Specs:

  • Same sound of old fascinating 80ā€™s chorus
  • Analog Design
  • Total absence of any background noise or signal losses
  • Foxgear quality components and 5 year warranty
  • Foxgear smart dimension with top jack configuration

Smart dimensions:
The pedals from the Foxgear Professional Compact series measure only 2,3ā€ x 4,7ā€ x 1,1ā€, and thanks to their top mounted jacks, they can easily fit in any pedalboard. Compared to other manu-facturerā€™s lesser-quality, side-jack mounted micro-pedals, you can fit 4 Foxgear pedals in the same space normally needed for 3 of the other manufacturerā€™s micro-pedals.

Quality:
Foxgear pedals are constructed with non-SMD components in the audio path, with analog design, and high-quality components like Wima capacitors, real Alpha 16mm pots, non-plastic trimmers, and a true bypass circuit that includes Panasonic golden pin relays. Thatā€™s why all Foxgear pedals are covered with a full 5 Year warranty!!

No matter what (or where) you are recording, organizing your files will save you hours of time.

A well-organized sample library is crucial for musicians, producers, and sound designers. It enables smoother workflows, saves time, and nurtures creativity by providing easy access to the perfect sounds.

Greetings, and welcome! Last month, I began the first of a multi-part Dojo series centered around field recording and making your own sound libraries by focusing on the recording process. This time, Iā€™m going to show you ways to organize and create a library from the recordings youā€™ve made. We discover things by noticing patterns in nature, and we create things by imposing our own patterns back into nature as well. This is exactly what youā€™re doing by taking the uncontrolled, purely observant recordings youā€™ve made in the natural world and prepping them as raw material for new patterned, controlled forms of musical expression. Tighten up your belts, the Dojo is now open.

The notion behind a ramping phaser predates the phaser pedal by many moonsā€”namely in the form of thetwo-speed Leslie rotating speaker. A Leslie isnā€™t a phaser in the strictest sense, though the physics behind what the listener perceives are not dissimilar, and as any phaser devotee can tell you, there are many audible similarities between the two. At many phase rates and intensities, a phaser stands in convincingly for a Leslie, and the original king of phasers, theUniVibe was conceived as a portable alternative to rotary speakers.

The voice of the guitar can make the unfamiliar familiar, expand the mind, and fill the heart with inspiration. Donā€™t be afraid to reach for sounds that elevate. A host of great players, and listening experiences, are available to inspire you.

In late fall, I had the good fortune of hearing David Gilmour and Adrian Belew live, within the same week. Although itā€™s been nearly two months now, Iā€™m still buzzing. Why? Because Iā€™m hooked on tone, and Gilmour and Belew craft some of the finest, most exciting guitar tones Iā€™ve ever heard.
