Deftones’ Stephen Carpenter

Longtime ESP user Stephen went with his signature 8-string, loaded with his signature Fishman Fluence pickups, for the opener “Rocket Skates.” Carpenter spoke with us earlier this year and had this to say on why he loves 7- and 8-strings: “The lower registers. Having that option to drop down to the lower stuff—it’s just fun, really heavy to play, a little darkness.
