Rig Rundown: Unearth's Ken Susi

Go inside his impressive tone bunker, fortified with silver 7-string ESP sig models, 21st-century Fishman pickups, and stacks of 5150 and JCM800 disciples.

Here is Ken Susi’s pride and joy—his “silver surfer” signature ESP LTD KS M-7 Evertune. It’s built around the M-7 double-cutaway, S-style body shape that is constructed with solid mahogany. Other highlights include a set of Fluence Modern humbucker alnico pickups, Evertune bridge (F model), a 3-piece maple neck with a “thin U” profile, and an ebony fretboard. “When designing a guitar, I wanted to make sure it was very clean, so if somebody just liked it and wanted to play it without knowing me, they’d just have to deal with my signature on the back of the headstock.” For most of Unearth’s material, Ken has been tuning to drop B, and he exclusively uses Ernie Ball Super Slinky Paradigm strings gauged .009–.042 with a low .056 for the 7-strings.
