Jackson Introduces the JS Series Spectra Bass and Refreshes X Series Concert Bass Models

The JS Series Spectra Bass JS2, JS Series Spectra Bass JS3 and JS Series Spectra Bass JS3V all feature a brand-new offset body shape.

Scottsdale, AZ (January 27, 2019) -- Jackson® today announces the brand-new JS Series Spectra Bass models, as well as a complete refresh to the X Series Concert Bass™ models.

Designed with the artist in mind, the JS Series Spectra Bass JS2, JS Series Spectra Bass JS3 and JS Series Spectra Bass JS3V all feature a brand-new offset poplar Spectra body shape. The large upper horn evenly distributes weight throughout these instruments, providing perfect balance for hours of comfortable playing by reducing neck dive.

Featuring a Jackson J-style bridge pickup and P-style neck pickup, the four-string JS2 delivers a range of punchy growls or lucid tones that can be tweaked and refined with blend, bass boost and volume controls (with a push/pull selector to bypass or engage the active circuit for the bass boost). Available in Gloss Black, Metallic Blue, Snow White or Tobacco Burst, the JS2 also features a bolt-on maple neck with scarf joint, 12” radius laurel fingerboard, Jackson hardtail bridge and a unique Jackson 2x2 headstock with an understated J logo.

The 4-string JS3 and 5-string JS3V feature a bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint and a 12”-16” compound radius laurel fingerboard. Dual passive Jackson medium-output humbucking pickups deliver a monstrous, deep low-end growl, while a HiMass™ bridge provides rock-solid stability and improved sustain. These models also feature a two-way toggle switch for pickup coil splitting, 3-band EQ (active only), blend control and volume control with push/pull selector to bypass or engage the active circuit for the 3-band EQ.

The JS3 is available in Gloss Black, Metallic Red or Silverburst, while the JS3V is offered in Satin Black, Silverburst and Walnut Stain. Both models feature a unique Jackson headstock (JS3 2x2; JS3V 3x2) with J logo.

With the push/pull selector feature on all models, there’s no fear of a battery running out and losing sound. A quick pull on the volume knob will bypass the active circuit, making it easy to regain sound from the bass without the use of battery power.

Upgraded electronics, classically brutal style and fast, efficient playability make the new X Series Concert™ Bass lineup a fundamental force to be reckoned with.

The heart of these new low-end beasts is a Jackson J-style bridge pickup and Jackson P-style neck pickup, mated to an active 3-band EQ circuit for adding punch, cut, rumble or grunt. A Jackson HiMass™ bridge enhances note attack and sustain without altering tone while the sealed die-cast tuning machines keep the strings in tune even with the most aggressive of playing styles.

The four-string CBXNT IV is available in Matte Army Drab with a parchment pickguard and gold hardware and features a poplar body, 34” scale, one-piece maple neck-through body and a 12"-16" compound radius bound laurel fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets for lightning-fast playability. The CBXNTM IV shares the same features but offers a maple fingerboard and comes in a Butterscotch or Snow White finish with black pickguard and chrome hardware.

Also featuring a poplar body and one-piece maple neck-through body, the five-string X Series Concert Bass models have a slightly longer 35” scale.

The CBXNT V is available in Gloss Black with a white pickguard and chrome hardware and features a laurel fingerboard with pearloid sharkfin inlays.

The CBXNT V MAH features a mahogany top, laurel fingerboard with pearloid sharkfin inlays and is available in a Natural finish with parchment pickguard and gold hardware.

The CBXNTM V features a maple fingerboard with black sharkfin inlays and is available in Fiesta Red with a black pickguard and chrome hardware.

Highly affordable, these basses are the perfect weapon for the musician who requires nothing less than the latest in high-performance bass technology.

Electro-Harmonix S9 String Ensemble

Electro-Harmonix is a giant among pedal builders. What’s inspiring about EHX is that they’ve never let that stature keep them from taking risks. Take the company’s keyboard- and synth-inspired pedals: the B9, KEY9, MEL9, and Synth9. Each has been a success, but none were sure-fire hits. Guitar-based synthesis at accessible consumer prices is not easy. Yet in each case, EHX created something playable and useful to guitarists. And if they didn’t always achieve perfect replication of the keyboard and synth instruments that inspired them, the pedals often prompted new ways of relating to a guitar and new possibilities in performance and composition. The S9 String Ensemble is among the most realized of these pedals. Its sounds are rich and creatively executed. And the pedal is compelling in the truest sense of the word: It makes it virtually impossible to not consider new songs, new arrangements, and new styles as you interact with it.
