Serek Midwestern 2
Inspired in part by luthier Jake Serek’s 1960s Epiphone Newport, the handbuilt Midwestern 2 oozes vintage cool in the looks department. Reviewer David Abdo, however, found the 6 1/2-pound short-scale bass to be much more than a pretty face with its effortless playability and easy accessibility to the upper portion of the fretboard. Most importantly, Abdo reported that the Midwesterner 2’s pair of Serek single-coils sound fantastic and are able to produce a wide variety of vintage-flavored tones.

Zach loves his Sovtek Mig 60 head, which he plays through a cab he built himself at a pipe-organ shop in Denver. Every glue joint is lined with thin leather for maximum air tightness, and it’s stocked with Celestion G12M Greenback speakers.
