Phil Jones Bass also brought a pair of new compact heads to NAMM 2015 with the D1000 and D400. The D1000 is a class D, 5.5 pound, 950-watt (at 4 ohms) workhorse while its smaller cousin is 2.9 pounds and rated at 350 watts at 4 ohms. Both amps are enclosed in aircraft-grade anodized aluminum.

This wonky Zim-Gar was one of many guitars sold by importer Gar-Zim Musical Instruments, operated by Larry Zimmerman and his wife.

The 1960s were strange days indeed for import guitars, like this cleaver-friendly Zim-Gar electric.
